How I Infiltrated Castle Shimura — Mission: Heart of Jito (Ghost of Tsushima)

In “Heart of Jito,” Castle Shimura stands as one of Ghost of Tsushima’s most tense and cinematic infiltration missions. I’ve uploaded a full video walkthrough embedded above in this blog, but below you’ll find a concise written guide covering preparation, key stealth tactics, and step‑by‑step tips to get you through the castle with minimal alarm — or to wreak perfectly timed havoc if things go loud.

Preparation: loadout and mindset

  • Armor: choose a stealth‑oriented set (Sakai Clan or any armor with stealth/assassination bonuses) to reduce detection and improve takedown damage.
  • Tools & Ghost Weapons: Smoke Bombs, Kunai, and a Blowgun (if you have it) are essential. Carry Healing items and Resolve—castle sections can get punishing if discovered.
  • Abilities: invest in stealth upgrades (silent takedowns, assassination bonuses) and a strong bow for long‑range picks.
  • Save and scout: make a manual save before approaching. Spend a minute watching patrols and camera angles from a concealed vantage point.

Read the field: scouting and timing

Before you move, observe guards’ routes and marker positions. Use tall grass, rooftops, and the Guiding Wind to line up your path. Look for choke points, sleeping or distracted sentries, and environmental hazards you can use (towers, ledges, ladders). Timing is everything — many windows of opportunity open only during a guard’s patrol loop.

Step‑by‑step infiltration (stealth approach)

  1. Approach quietly and use the environment to bypass outer sentries — rooftops and ledges often avoid the main watch.
  2. Take isolated guards down one by one, then hide bodies in tall grass or behind crates. Avoid killing near other patrols.
  3. Use the bow to snipe archers and sentries who block routes or overlook courtyards. A single arrow can create safe windows to slip past.
  4. If you must pass large groups, toss a Kunai or use a noise lure to separate a target and finish a silent assassination.
  5. When reaching inner courtyards, move quickly between cover and use Smoke Bombs to cross open ground or make a quick escape if seen.
  6. Approach the objective area with patience — if there’s a more heavily guarded inner chamber, time your movement between two patrols and push through on the brief safe moment.

If you are discovered

Don’t panic. Drop a Smoke Bomb to break line of sight, move to high ground or a nearby rooftop, and pick off pursuers with a bow. Use narrow corridors to funnel enemies and avoid being flanked. If you have Ghost Weapons like the Blowgun, disable single targets inside groups to reduce pressure.

Key tactical tips

  • Preserve stealth by alternating between rooftop routes and ground-level grass—mixing the two makes your movement less predictable.
  • Use the environment: collapsing scaffolding, lanterns, and narrow stairways can become tools for you.
  • Conserve Resolve for healing in long engagements; use Smoke Bombs to reset a bad situation.
  • If you prefer a cinematic playthrough for your video, plan two clean kills in quick succession and use photo/cinematic modes while recording.

Aftermath & rewards

Completing Heart of Jito stealthily yields XP, loot, and the satisfaction of a flawless ghost run. Even if you trigger alarms, Castle Shimura’s layout rewards tactical combat and smart retreats — you can still finish strong by controlling choke points and using the high ground.
