Traveling Between Tsushima and Iki Island in Ghost of Tsushima

One of the great features of the Ghost of Tsushima expansion is the ability to travel freely between Tsushima and Iki Island. This allows players to continue exploring both areas without feeling locked into one or the other. Here’s how traveling between the two islands works and when you can unlock this ability:

To initially reach Iki Island, you’ll need to complete the “Journey into the Past” quest, which becomes available after finishing Act 1 and unlocking the Toyotama region. This quest takes you to Drowned Man’s Shore, where you’ll set sail for Iki Island after a brief encounter with Mongol forces. Once you arrive, you’ll dive into the island’s story and challenges.

However, you won’t be able to travel back to Tsushima immediately. The ability to fast travel between the two islands is unlocked after completing the “Jin from Yarikawa” mission on Iki Island. This mission is part of the main storyline on Iki and involves Jin confronting his past and the trauma of the Yarikawa rebellion. Once this mission is completed, you’ll gain the freedom to fast travel between Tsushima and Iki Island at any time.

To travel between the islands, simply open your map and select the fast travel point you want to go to. If you’re on Tsushima, you’ll see Iki Island’s fast travel points (and vice versa). This makes it easy to switch between the two locations, whether you’re pursuing side quests, collecting items, or simply exploring.

It’s worth noting that while you can travel back to Tsushima early in the Iki Island storyline, it’s recommended to complete the main Iki missions first. This ensures you fully experience the expansion’s narrative and unlock its unique rewards, such as charms, armor, and abilities, which can then be used to enhance your gameplay in Tsushima.

In summary, traveling between Tsushima and Iki Island is straightforward once you’ve completed the “Jin from Yarikawa” mission. This flexibility allows you to enjoy the best of both worlds, making your journey as the Ghost even more dynamic and rewarding.
